Topic: RTC.sys error Upgrade to 0.8.7

Hi Guys,

I could really do with some assistance. I have a divIDE compact flash i bought years ago.

It originally had 0.8.0 and after faffing around with the jumper j2/e (i think) it flashed and then i copied over the sys and bin folders.

When the spectrum starts it says 0.8.7 in the corner, the other .sys files are ok but i get RTC.sys error.

Also i read that there is now a command that gets you into 128k which is .128 but that doesn't do any thing?.

Any suggestions?. I have a +2 grey machine.

I'm very grateful for your help and input if you can spare me some time

Thanks

Re: RTC.sys error Upgrade to 0.8.7

Hi,

as "Cheveron Group" already writes on the "DivMMC and DivIDE interface for ZX Spectrum"-Facebook-Group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/7927698 … 616167501/ ): Some more recent hardware that supports esxDOS has its own realtime clock. So you just should ignore this error.

On the .128-command "Cheveron Group" writes: "The .128 DOT-command will switch to the editor on 128K machines, but it does not make it usable. It will still crash if you try to do anything with it. You either nead to softload Velesoft's 128 ROM in RAM on the divMMC or physically replace your machine's ROM with the appropriate set of ROMs from DerbyPro to actually be able to use 128 BASIC with esxDOS."

More on .128-command can be found here: esxDOS BBS → Discussions → Bug Reports → Dot command 128 supplied with esxDOS 8.7 is broken: http://board.esxdos.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1244#p1244

Re: RTC.sys error Upgrade to 0.8.7

Basically, if you have a divIDE, the only way you are going to be able to use 128 BASIC with esxDOS is to physically install the DerbyPro ROM set that's appropriate for your machine. So if you have a toaster or a gray 128 you'll need the 32K ROM version and you'll still need to use the .128 command. But if you have a +3 or later you can install the 64K ROM set and you'll be able to select 128 BASIC from the menu. You can get the ROM images here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DerbyPro but I'm not sure where the fake RTC.SYS file that hides the error lives.

Maybe can be found here in the New NMI.SYS packages on Ben Versteegs Site: https://www.bytedelight.com/?p=2815

Update Sep 2019 – NMI Navigator for ESXDOS 0.8.6 and ESXDOS 0.8.7

For ESXDOS 0.8.6 and 0.8.7 you need NMI Navigator version 0.0.16.

This version exists of:
– The NMI.sys main file
– A ‘NMI’ folder with help files required for version 0.0.16
– The RTC.SYS file – not specifically for NMI Navigator, but to get rid of the error message of a missing RTC.SYS file if you have it

The new version is available with one of these links:
– For ESXDOS 0.8.6: https://bytedelight.com/download/nmi_v0 … dos086.zip
– For ESXDOS 0.8.7: https://bytedelight.com/download/nmi_v0 … dos087.zip

Extract the files and copy them to the SYS folder of your DivMMC or DivIDE card.
