Why are still people here who think it's better to hold the sources away from users in the ZX Spectrum community?

There is business potential no more. Nobody is going to stole your ideas.

I am trying to get DivMMC to work on the Байт (Byte) clone of the ZX Spectrum.  I've designed a converter board to convert the BYTE's 96-pin Soviet-era expansion connector (СНП59-96) to a Speccy's usual edge connector.

With some additional patching, it is *almost* working.  The BYTE has two modes - one is supposedly "ZX Spectrum compatibility" - so this is the one I'm trying. 

It tries to boot but fails with:

Loading ESXDOS.SYS...   [ERROR]

I have freshly formatted a 16GB SDHC card using the official SD Formatter (I'm using a Mac) and copied contents of 0.8.8 release across.

Any suggestion?

is there a way to save Snapshots with Betadisk48/128-Rom integrated "MagicButton" NMI into an attached .TRD-File?

I ask because sometimes the .SNA-Snapshot-Format, that esxDOS NMI produces, corrupts the game.

Alternatively - can there be a Multiface 128/MF Hardware activated which saves a Snapshot into an attached .TAP-File?

Or do both options collide with the esxDOS TRDOS-Emulator?

from esxDOS 0.8.5 to 0.8.9 TRDOS seems to use TR-DOS Ver 5.04T.
There´s a file called "TRDOS54T.KO" in esxDOS-Packages. Depending on the the esxDOS-Version it has different sizes.

Can this underlying DOS/ROM-Version be changed?

I´m asking for two reasons:
1) Some programs in .TRD/.SCL--Format won´t run under esxDOS TR-DOS-Emulation. Maybe they directly call adresses in TRDOS-ROM but work only with e.g. TR-DOS v5.01. It would be nice that we can change TRDOS-ROM for testing.

2) Here: http://board.esxdos.org/viewtopic.php?id=1043 User zxcygnus asks for TRDOS 5.05CZ as this has extension like using shorter *A instead original *"A:" for simpler switching between drives.

I am entering basic code on the machine. Regularly I save the program to a .TAP file by doing :
.tapeout prgname.tap
SAVE "hd0"
And then keep on entering code and saving.
After some saves, when I do the .tapeout, the machine reboots, and the memory cleared (like if I did a NEW on it).
I have to disconnect the power to the ZX Spectrum to get it going again.

Seems to me this is a bug. I am on firmware version 0.8.7.
Is there any way I can go around this, or should I upgrade the firmware ?

My topics are as follows:

1] Using a memory of the ZX Spectrum and the divMMC. Memory and system-files management. Will be the basic divMMC with 128KB RAM enough for add-ons and plugins? See Bob's File Browser...

2] Enhancing the BASIC syntax. Could we expect a full set of standard ZX commands or even better (IF1 ROM style?) system for easy user-made BASIC language expansions?

3] Drivers and emulation layers. This is not only about the RTC, TRDs and TAPs. Could we mount also DSK, MGT, FDI, TDO and D80 images?

Firstly apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, I am new to using esxDOS and the divMMC. I have been playing PT3 music using PLAYPT3. Is there anyway to stop playback after it repeats a number of times? I ask as many music tracks are set to finish and then return to an earlier segment and will keep playing forever.

2] Unpack the package "esxdos088.zip" to the folder named esxdos088.zip.dir

3] prepare a hdf file for a emulator
$ hdfmonkey create test.hdf 64M
$ hdfmonkey put test.hdf esxdos088.zip.dir/SYS /
$ hdfmonkey put test.hdf esxdos088.zip.dir/BIN /
$ hdfmonkey mkdir test.hdf /TMP

4] run the emulator
$ fuse --no-divide --divmmc test.hdf esxdos088.zip.dir/ESXMMC.TAP

5] LOAD "" and flash the system
go to Options/Peripheral/Disk/"Divmmc write protect"
next make Machine/"Hard Reset"
(hard reset is needed, not only normal one...)

hdfmonkey formats this 64MB image with FAT16 and 2KB clusters

you can also make a HDF image with FAT32 via command mkfs.vfat:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=test2.raw bs=256M count=1
$ /sbin/mkfs.vfat -F32 -s4 test2.raw
$ raw2hdf -v 1.1 test2.raw test2.hdf
$ hdfmonkey put test2.hdf esxdos088.zip.dir/SYS /
$ hdfmonkey put test2.hdf esxdos088.zip.dir/BIN /
$ hdfmonkey mkdir test2.hdf /TMP
$ fuse --no-divide --divmmc test2.hdf esxdos088.zip.dir/ESXMMC.TAP
...and follow with the previous step 5]

Can anyone help: why the hdfmonkey can create FAT32 based images, but cannot write into them?

Does exist only a SpecNEXT version of this DOT-command?

I could really do with some assistance. I have a divIDE compact flash i bought years ago.

It originally had 0.8.0 and after faffing around with the jumper j2/e (i think) it flashed and then i copied over the sys and bin folders.

When the spectrum starts it says 0.8.7 in the corner, the other .sys files are ok but i get RTC.sys error.

Also i read that there is now a command that gets you into 128k which is .128 but that doesn't do any thing?.

Any suggestions?. I have a +2 grey machine.
